A new Sonic mobile game is in the works!
It’s hard to convey just how much this changed the public perception of Sonic without writing an entire piece on it. From the get go, the attempt at playing Sonic the Hedgehog doesn’t feel like a genuine attempt to find something meaningful from the game. Rather, Sonic ‘06 is chosen for the show because it feels like an easy game to dunk on. While combat’s enjoyable with basic enemies and miniboss Guardians, it does not fair as well during Super Sonic fights with the Titan bosses of each world. These Titans are gigantic mechanical creatures that Super Sonic must defeat, and initially, their hulking size is impressive. Instead of being based on skill, the fights are on an arbitrary timer determined solely by how many rings Sonic has when entering the battle.
- He’s got a brand new game that’s coming out called Sonic Frontiers which may prove to be the most impressive and dynamic Sonic game of all time.
- The most prominent one on display during the demo was the Cycloop, where Sonic runs around enemies while the player holds down the Y/Triangle button.
- Some publications noted that user review scores were comparable to those for acclaimed games such as Breath of the Wild and Elden Ring .
In Sonic’s new adventure, players will be able to experience an all-new kind of gameplay referred to as “Open Zone” design. Upon the trailer’s release, many fans of the series lauded the game’s graphics and gameplay. Meanwhile, others were quick to point out that the gameplay shown in the story trailer appeared to be far superior to earlier looks at the game. Additionally, you collect Wisps on tracks, which offer power-ups such as defensive and offensive skills. The gameplay features a series of 2D platforming levels across three acts.

The first, an 8-bit version of the original Sonic, was developed by Ancient to promote the Game Gear and released in December 1991. Aspect Co. developed most of the subsequent 8-bit Sonic games, beginning with a version of Sonic 2. Other Sonic games released during this period include Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine , SegaSonic the Hedgehog , and Knuckles’ Chaotix (a spin-off for the Genesis’s 32X add-on starring Knuckles). The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has existed for almost 30 years and with the success of the new movie ($57 million dollars on opening day) why not look at where it all began. In 1990 Sega had become a powerhouse in the home video game console market and they rivaled even the likes of Nintendo, but Sega needed a new mascot that can be on par with the likes of Mario. Early Genesis games were adept at slyly reaching for more ambitious ideas than they let on.
In the way many modern Sonic games are, he also couldn’t wait to play more. This open-world, puzzling platformer looks like the hedgehog’s attempt to get a little Breath of the Wild, but how that works as a tiny mammal whose sole desires include going fast and fast food, lord knows. In any case we’ve now seemingly got a release date due to a new Japanese trailer. The Cyberspace stages we’ve seen so far are either brand new or pulled from games considered very good by quite a lot of people . Some people may hate some parts of these games , but most of the normal modern Sonic stages in them are considered top tier by most who’ve played them properly. Good to see that it’s finished and ready for release, I can’t wait to finally get my hands on it.
Will there be a Sonic the Hedgehog 5 game?
At the very least I’m hoping the 2D levels are able to match the quality of the “Sonic Advance” series of games. Playing the 2D version of a level will feel strikingly similar to the Genesis-era “Sonic” games. All the familiar mechanics, like swinging platforms, floating clouds of rings and corkscrew pathways return, just with enhanced graphics. Sonic’s own art design even changes, as you’ll play as the old school, chubbier hedgehog. Sonic the hedgehog has been through ups and downs over his 20 year history, and his recent years haven’t been exactly bountiful.
He also collects original arcade machines, Lego, and considers himself a whisky buff. Even besides that, the two component parts are excellent, easily top five material. The first Sonic also has that rare energy where you can practically taste the potential for this franchise excitedly frothing at the edges of this first entry, constrained for budget, and hardware, and a million other reasons. Even with those constraints, its team delivered a seminal, ground-breaking game. As an anniversary game goes, you can’t really beat Sonic Generations as an idea. Sonic has lived in two different worlds – 2D and 3D – so why not bring those versions of Sonic together for one game?
